with RANVITA HAHN, percussionist and founder of Rhythmuswelten in Hürth + ensemble - Alexandra Wünsch, Bettina Grossberg, Marit Timmermann, Vera Schimetzek.

Taiko, 太鼓 "thick drum", came to Japan from China via Korea and was initially played in Zen monasteries. Nowadays, the barrel-shaped taiko is mainly played at shrine festivals, matsuri 祭り, during ceremonial processions.

A short, powerful ceremony. Duration approx. 20 minutes. Followed by time to relax.

All interested parties are welcome. Admission free.

Hear and feel how a taiko sounds in our dojo - a former church. A bass-filled performance. From a simple pulse that leads the listener inside to very expressive, powerful rhythms.
